Name: De Goesbriand Memorial Hospital (1923-1967)
Historical Note: DeGoesbriand Memorial Hospital was founded in 1923 as a community hospital. In the 1940s it entered into an arrangement with the University of Vermont College of Medicine to serve as teaching facilities for its students. By the early 1960s the two organizations were integrated on many levels. In 1966, a Joint Hospital Committe recommended combining DeGoesbriand Memorial Hospital and Mary Fletcher Hopital, the two hospitals associated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine. The combined facility, called the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont , resulted in 1967. For a few years the former facilities retained some identity as units within the larger structure, but that soon ended.
