Scope and Contents of the Materials
The college farm was purchased in parcels in 1913, 1919, and 1930, The 1930 purchase was completed when area clergy appealed to their congregations to donate money for the the purchase of the farm and St. Joseph’s and Senior Hall. It is located across street from Founders Hall, off of College Parkway and Limekiln. The farm was a working dairy farm which provided the college and Fanny Allen Hospital with dairy products for many years. The college also sold some items and maintained a small potato patch. In 1965, the college decided that the farm was no longer economically feasible, and the sold the herd and equipment. Most of the items in this series are related to the Seguin property the college purchased in 1930. It includes correspondence about the clergy appeal. One of the ledgers from the dairy/creamery is also included.
