Collection Historical Note
The SMC Employee Wellness Committee was a campus wide committee run through the Human Resources office. The committee offered a variety of exercise classes and sponsored programs and lectures on a number of topics, including dealing with stress, nutrition, and parenting. The committee was extremely active for the years of its existence and even won an award for worksite wellness in 1999. Its work was so time-consuming, however, that the committee felt the college should hire a professional. Fiscal realities stopped this from happening, and in August 2000, the committee voted to disband. Some attempts to revitalize the committee never got off the ground.
