Administrative/Biographical History
In the early 1990’s a group of interested faculty met to discuss the college’s catholic identity. They discussed such issues as choices of commencement speakers, the role of the SSE on campus and hiring new faculty. They also discussed broader issues about catholic higher education. The group began as the Catholic Mission Discussion Group, although it also went by Catholic Identity Group until finally agreeing upon Newman circle. In order to differentiate between this group and the Newman Association this series is referred to as the Catholic Mission group.
