Administrative/Biographical History
The SSE Formation Committee was an active committee during the 1970’s and 1980’s. The committee studied the role of formation, defined by the SSE Constitutions as “the process of becoming more and more a disciple of Christ, growing in union with and in configuration to Him. For the Edmundites, formation is lifelong process that begins with postulancy.
Throughout most of the 1970’s, the Formation Committee spent a great deal of time studying formation outside the society, in particular through the Bishops Committee on Priestly Formation. In the 1980’s, the committee worked particularly hard at updating the Formation Handbook. The committee disbanded in 1990, when the handbook was completed.
