Title: Canterbury Hall, 2004-2004
ID: SMC 13/SMC 13.5
Extent: 0.0
Scope and Contents: Canterbury Hall and Pontigny Hall were built in 2004 as the second phase in an effort to make housing available for 100% of students. These residence halls were designed to provide suite living, where a number of students share common space yet had single rooms. It was built on the same design as Cashman Hall, the first of three dormitories built on this plan. These three buildings replaced a number of small houses that had been used by the college for a number of years. They also changed the “public face” of the east end of the campus, since they are visible from Route 15. All of the businesses engaged in the project were Vermont businesses. They was designed by Truex Cullins & Partners, Architects.
