The bulk of this subgroup is correspondence, which is arranged alphabetically by correspondent/office.  The series also includes correspondence from the South, which is further subdivided by correspondent/office.  Correspondence included in the South sub-series is that which accumulated in the Superior General’s Office.  Most originated in the South, although copies of outgoing mail are sometimes included.  Correspondence with other Local Administrations is located with the local administrations files.

Edward Leary’s second term of office was quite difficult.  Continuing the trend begun in his first term, the society began a slow process of  consolidating works; when a pastor retired, he was not automatically replaced. Much energy and labor was dedicated to the vocation office, yet few new novices took permanent vows.  The number of Edmundites dropped from 105 to 95 while almost 50% of the membership was over 60.  While not thoroughly addressed during Leary’s term, it did have a long lasting effect on the Society.
