Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection is primarily material connected with Fr. Trahan’s long interest in the history of Swanton, VT specifically the Nativity Parish. Trahan performed a great deal of research in this area, and the collection consists of collected articles and notes related to the topic.
Collection Historical Note
Romeo Trahan was a professed member of the Society of Saint Edmund. He was born in 1919. A native of Swanton, Vermont, Trahan attended St. Anne’s Academy in Swanton before attending high school and college in Quebec. He entered Saint Joseph’s Novitiate in Putney, VT in 1940 and was ordained by Bishop Ryan in Burlington in 1945. He spent most of his working years working in parishes in Quebec and Vermont. His last ministry was in Swanton, where he served his last mass in 1992.
Fr. Trahan had a deep interest in the history of Swanton and the Edmundites in Swanton and his collection reflects this interest.
