The Superior General of the Society of Saint Edmund appoints committees as needed to offer additional advice to him and his council.  The Superior General gives the committee a mandate, but it may establish its own rules of procedure.  Some committees, such as the Finance Committee and the Investment Committee, are standing committees and assist with the regular operations of the Society.  Most, however, are formed with specific achievable goals in mind.  Such committees are usually disbanded after their mandate has been filled.
