Scope and Contents: The Society first established archives in 1974, noting that Vatican II included a reminder to religious communities of the importance of their heritage. The Superior General appointed a member of the society to act as archivist. Members have undertaken this role through the years, although a layperson, Joseph Constance, did a significant amount of work in the archives from 1974-1985. Most of these directors did not work in a full time capacity. In 2001, the Society hired a full time archivist through a unique arrangement with Saint Michael’s College. Since this time, the archivist has not held the title of Director, and their records are not included in this series. Material is arranged alphabetically
